God Has to be Your Husband First (Testimony Time)

Before I can share this testimony with you, I have to give you a little background so you can better appreciate this story. It may not seem like much to some of you, but for me, this was a huge thing.

If you've followed my story, you know that I've been married... twice. I got married the first time when I was around 24 years old and fresh out of the world. I'd just joined church when I met my ex two years prior to us getting married (when I was 22), and it goes without saying that having been in sin for 22 years, I wasn't exactly ready to be married or mature enough to pick a life's mate. We ended up living together for two years before we got officially married. That marriage lasted seven years before it ended in divorce. Something he said to me right before we broke up changed my mind entirely. We had just started buying a house and we had been struggling to pay for it using both of our incomes. He was the bread-winner; he made two times more than I did so I depended on him. While we were arguing, he said to me, "You're going to lose your house, your car... everything! Because I'm not paying for anything! You better figure out what you're gonna do." I was devastated. On top of knowing that we were pretty much breaking up at that moment, I had the extra weight of knowing that I was gonna lose my house. I couldn't afford it on my own ... especially with the  mindset that I had. I was in what I thought to be my dream house (settlement), meaning that I didn't think I'd ever be able to afford the house of my dreams because it is massive. Nevertheless, the 3500 square foot home that we were buying was huge; it was big enough. I'd settled for it thinking that I'd just have to do without my dream backyard, swimming pool, and in-house gym ... and I was okay with that. After all, I had a beautiful home and I was truly thankful for it.

Stop Trying to Blend In (Defeating People Bondage and Culture)

I remember being that little girl... full of hope and dreams. Like most children, I wasn't afraid to dream big. Even though I'd endured a lot as a child, the enemy hadn't been successful at killing my dreams. As a matter of fact, the worse my reality was, the more I dreamed ... and the more I dreamed, the worse my reality became. It seemed like an endless cycle ... a tug-of-war of sorts, but I think it's safe to say that God used those dreams of mine to keep me from losing my mind. I've said it before and I'll say it again... it is only by the grace of God that I still have my right mind. God was surely with me.

The Journey of a Thousand Words

Words.  They're everywhere.  We hear them everyday; some are disproving and some are approving.  Nevertheless, every word released in the atmosphere has to land somewhere.  It is given life by the person who's spoken it, but it can be cancelled out or received by the person it was spoken for or against.  We get to decide whether someone's words about us successfully land in our hearts or if they fall by the wayside.  We have the power and authority to override words.

Louann Brizendine, a researcher from the University of California, conducted a study to see how many words the average person spoke each day.  She concluded that women speak an average of 20,000 words a day, whereas, the average man only speaks 7,000 words a day.  There are other researchers out who argue that these claims have never been validated, but as a woman, I think it's safe to say that women do talk remarkably more than men (on average).  Therefore, with so many words being released into the atmosphere, can you imagine how many weapons are released every day?  Can you imagine how many of them have been released against you in your lifetime?  Think of it this way.  According to reference.com, there are a total of 3.52 billion women in this world.  If each woman speaks 20,000 words a day, that would mean that over seven quadrillion words are spoken a day by women alone and only 30 percent of them are Christian.

How Expensive is the Fear of Rejection?

Paulette is eyeing an opportunity in her office.  One of the assistant managers has just retired and Paulette wants to take her position, but there's just one thing standing in her way: Paulette herself.  You see, Paulette wants the position and she's more than qualified for the position, but because she fears rejection, Paulette is too afraid to apply.  She tries to encourage herself, but her fear of being rejected has overwhelmed her.

Sheep Amongst Wolves: A Message to the Elijahs, Josephs and Davids of Today

Dear Prophet,

I have to share my testimony with you so that you will not only be encouraged, but you will pass this test that you are enduring.  I'm sure you've heard the adage, "The way up is down...."  This sounds like nothing more than a cute play on words, but I can honestly say at this stage in my life that those words are true.  It's funny; we all have our ideas about what God intends to do with and for us, but the truth is we have no real idea of what God has planned for us.  The reason for this is because we have a tendency to think that our lives are centered around our wants and needs, therefore, when we imagine God working things out on our behalves, we oftentimes imagine Him working hard to give us the desires of our hearts.  Of course, God does give us the desires of our hearts, but He does this after He has changed our hearts, or better yet, renewed our minds.  In other words, we don't always get what we want when we want it; we get what we want when our desires match God's will for us.  Any prayer that does not match God's will for us is a prayer gone amiss.

Jezebel... At the Dog Park

My Saturdays are usually the same.  I get up pretty late in the afternoon (around three or four) and after getting dressed, I normally take my dog out for an hour long walk.  When I return home, I start preparing for what I call my date with God.  I'll choose the restaurant that I want to go to or wherever God sends me, and I'll go and dine in.  While at my table, I will oftentimes listen to some of my favorite gospel/ Christian songs on YouTube and I'll try not to get too carried away.  Nevertheless, this Saturday was different.  I woke up earlier than normal and I didn't feel like following my normal routine.

Servants Who Don't Actually Serve

It was the weekend and I'd decided to visit a popular restaurant in my area with a friend of mine.  We were both very hungry and I couldn't wait to order one of my favorite menu items.  After we were led to our seats, our waiter proceeded to tell us about the different alcoholic beverages that were popular at that restaurant.  Of course, I don't drink alcohol and neither does my SIL (sister in the Lord), but we had to wait for the waiter to stop his long, rehearsed speech before requesting our soft drinks.  "Oh," said the waiter.  "I'm over here wasting my breath and telling y'all about alcohol and here it is that y'all want soft drinks."  We laughed and I explained to the waiter that we were both non-drinkers.  I told him that I was in ministry, and with that, he gave me an expressive look before saying, "Well, praise the Lord."  After that, the waiter let us know that our food would be out shortly, and then, he walked away.

The Jezebels of the Singles' Movement

Here's the truth: Not every single-wife-in-waiting is going to complete her season of singleness.  Not every single woman of God who's taken a purity pledge will be found by her God-appointed husband, and of course, there is a reason for this.  The reason is... not every wife-in-waiting is willing to endure the entire process of being made ready for her God-appointed husband.  After all, this process can be lengthy, painful and require a lot of self-adjustments that not only will change our lives as we know them, but it will change us entirely.  Let's face it... We're all waiting from within whatsoever mindsets we've picked up over the courses of our lives and it's easy to convince ourselves that there is nothing wrong with the way we think, when in truth, there is.

Purity Posters

I am more than excited to announce the release of our new Web Angels Purity Posters!  Of course, there is a story behind everything and I'm always ready for story-time!  So, what's the story, you ask?  It's simple.  For years now, I have been having visions of different forms of art that I am going to someday create, but I'd never had a vision of a Purity Poster until a few days ago.  I don't know if there was something external that sparked this vision, but what I do know is... I saw a beautiful bedroom with a Purity Poster hanging over the bed.
